The date is set: 7th November 2009. The venue is the impressive Hilton Treetops in Aberdeen. We are attempting to make our event similar to the look of the Japanese ‘Dream’ tournaments; but not the pro rules! We have tried to make this a tournament that both fighters and spectators will come back to again and again. A lot of time (and money!) has been spent on location, purses and trophies.
HILTON TREETOPS ABERDEEN
The Honour MMA will only feature ‘A’ Class (semi-pro), ‘B’ class (amatuer) and ‘C’ class (grappling). There are slight differences to the standards most fighters know. A lot of moves we consider ‘career enders’; such as heel hooks, are banned. We work from the premise that every fighter has work on Monday! In ‘B’ class kicks to the head; when standing, are allowed , but, as is the norm, knee and hand strikes are not. The head kicks encourage good guards that will be needed in ‘A’ Class, plus it takes a bit of skill to knock someone down with a head kick.
This is a pre-event shot of the insider of the Cedar Hall where the tournament will be hosted. The photo shows the entrance stage in the rear, the screen in front of the tables is where the centre of the ring will be. It will seat over 500 and large rooms have been set aside for changing and warming up.
The trophies are not plastic! The gold coloured metal cups are mounted on heavy marble bases and will be engraved with the result, event, sponsor (where applicable) and date. The centre piece is the Japanese kanji for ‘Honour’ and specially made for the tournament. Trust us; either trophy will look the business and something you will proudly show off!
As well as these stunning trophies, we believe the purses are decent as well: A Class fight: Winner £140, Runner Up £100 B Class fight: Winner £100, Runner Up £70 C Class fight: Winner £80 and Runner Up £50
But there’s more! The Hilton has generously offered fighters and coaches a bargain deal, £40 for bed and breakfast, which they boast is ‘the best breakfast in Scotland!’ Contact us if you wish to take advance of this is seriously good deal.

UCS Promotions extends it’s thanks to all the fighters, coaches, judges, timekeeper and Honour staff that made our second tournament such a great success (and of course Rosie Banks – huge thank you). The event was greatly helped by the wonderful appreciation of the 650+ crowd that cheered on the fighters! Greg ‘the MMA MC’ Houston was brilliant as usual! Steve and Dave from Team Unity were amazing, stepping up to help with the refereeing. And a big thanks to the girls from ‘Number 7′, who added a touch of glamour and style to the event. Martin Marlborough Shihan and his Taiko Drummers were stunning and the crowd loved the breaking techniques, plenty of ‘Oh’s’ and ‘Ah’s’ as boards and breeze blocks were smashed! A huge thanks to Perth Kyokushinkai – Osu! And last but not least Dr. Mike, without whom this event would not have happened – we are indebted.

It was their hard work that raised the money for the MacMillian Cancer Support – a big thanks girls!
